High Ranking In The Search Engine - Your Step By Step Guide

A high ranking in the search engine is very important to any webmaster on the net. It is without doubt the best place to have a searcher on the internet find your website. If you wish to have swarms of free traffic coming to your website on an ongoing basis, then you need to make sure that your keywords are placed in the top 1-5 positions when a search uses the keywords you use to optimize your web pages. So how do we get high rankings in the search engines?

First off, you need to make sure that you have your web pages fully optimized for the search engines so that they understand exactly what your website is all about! The search engines need to know what your site is about in order to display your pages to the searchers. How do they do this? They can identify what your web pages are about when they look at the title tag, the header tags, bold tags and the keyword density within the text content. Basically, if you are targeting a keyword like "Salmon fishing" then you will want to include it in the title tag, header tags and throughout the content both at the top and at the bottom.

You then need to acquire back links for your web pages. In case you are unfamiliar with the term back links. A back link is when a website/web page has a link in the form of an anchor text of your url pointing to your web page. This in the eyes of the search engines is classed as a vote to your web page. The more votes you get from other web pages, the higher you will climb in the search engines. However, it is advised that you try and get web pages that have a high page rank with a your link pointing back to your web page or site.

Not every website can give you a quality vote. If you get a vote from a website that has a high page rank it will be more beneficial to you. Just be careful of websites that can actually damage your ability to rank high. Most of the time, these sites are spammy and linking to them will harm your rankings!

Following these guidelines you should be well able to boast your keyword optimized pages in the search engines. It important to make sure you are on top of the game and your competitors.

I use a piece of software that really helps me with my SEO on my websites. It saves me a lot of time and money and boasts traffic to my sites. I have had web pages that rank in the top 5 position for very competitive keywords thanks to this software. What to know what it is? Then please visit the link below

Why Article Marketing Works So Well With Affiliate Marketing

Article marketing has long been one of my favorite ways to promote websites online. It's free, has several benefits, and will always be effective as it provides the search engines (and people) what they want... content.

When used correctly, article marketing can be one of the best ways to sell a prospect on an affiliate product (or your own product for that matter). Whereas search engine traffic can direct prospects to your website to find out about a service or product you are selling, article marketing can also have this effect, but on many websites at once. Let me explain...

One of the benefits of article marketing is the option for other webmasters to use your article on their website or ezine. Write a single informative article and you can quickly see it picked up by dozens of other websites. Of course, this not only increases the traffic to your website, but also increases your sites link popularity (providing you add a link to your site at the end of the article), helping to increase rankings in the search engines. Article marketing really is a "no lose" promotional method.

It is also a good method for deep linking to inner pages of your website, helping to direct traffic to any page that you want. A further benefit is that some of the best article directories can naturally rank well for some pretty competitive keywords. Being able to target more competitive keywords with higher search engine traffic is an excellent way to drive more visitors to your sales page.

Distributing articles to promote affiliate products is also a very quick way of generating sales. Whereas a new website can often take several months to rank for the keywords you want, article directories will help you make sales while you promote your own website well enough to rank for itself in search engines.

The low cost of outsourcing also helps in affiliate marketing. Oftentimes, you will find yourself promoting products related to niches you know nothing about. At around $5 per article, outsourcing can really help increase sales through article marketing. Furthermore, this method of promotion isn't likely to decrease in effectiveness any time soon, and lends itself perfectly to promoting niche websites.

How To Research The Right Keywords For Your Website

When you set about boosting your ranking on the search engines, you will want to pick keywords that will get you the best results. Selecting the right keywords for your website is a balancing act, but it is essential to get it right for good search engine optimization (SEO).

You want to select keywords that are popular and relevant to your site. However, you do not want keywords that return thousands of results, as it will be very difficult to get to the top of the rankings. Put simply, keywords are the words people type in to search engines when they search for something on the internet.

Ideally, you should do your keyword research before you set up your website as you can then build your site around your targeted keywords. You can employ an e-marketing professional to research the best keywords for you, or you can do it yourself.

There are some great free tools on the internet. Try out the Overture (Yahoo!) Keyword Suggestion Tool. Here you can type in keywords and the keyword suggestion tool will return an estimation of the monthly search volume for that phrase in Google, Yahoo, MSN and AOL. It will also show results for similar keywords.

You should select about 15 keywords and key phrases. Perform searches using these words to find competitors websites and see what keywords they are using in their websites, and how they are employed.

Another excellent tool to help you select the best keywords is Wordtracker. It can tell you how often people search for the keywords you chose and can offer some excellent alternative suggestions. You can try it out for free on the Wordtracker website. Google also offers a free keyword suggestion tool.

Once you have selected the right keywords for your website, you will need to use them wisely to achieve the best search engine optimization. The search engines do not like the overuse of keywords and you may even get banned if there are two many keywords and key phrases on your pages.

Keep keyword density in articles to about 2% and make sure that all content reads well and is informative. Articles written with the sole purpose of packing in as many keywords as possible will quickly drive visitors to your site away.

Also, be sure to include your keywords in page titles, META data, and try to work them in to links on your site when possible. Following these tips should help you strike the right balance when choosing your keywords and boost your search engine page ranking.

How To Protect Your Site From A Google PageRank Drop

For the uninitiated, Google ranks all pages on the web with a scale of PR0 to PR10 -- higher is better. High PR sites or pages receive most of the traffic for competitive keywords or phrases. Keywords are what surfers type into search engines to find what they're looking for on the web.

Ranking high in Google for popular keywords can prove very lucrative. It can make the difference whether your website is in the black and producing hourly profits, or a total worthless waste of pixel space. Having a high Google PR is equivalent to having money in the bank. It is that important.

For Google is still the undisputed king of traffic, regardless of what's on the horizon, Google is the major deliver of the web's traffic. That's why losing your high Google PR ranking, sometimes overnight, can be so devastating for the struggling webmaster or marketer.

Read this article to discover how you as a webmaster can protect yourself from lost profits and traffic, even if Google pulls the plug on your site or PR, while putting another one of their endless algorithms into place.

10 Ways to Outsmart Google's PageRank System

Here's a list of things you can do to lessen the impact of a sudden drop of the almighty Google PageRank:

* Diversify your traffic, make sure you cultivate other sources of traffic other than the search engines. Form partnerships and strategic links with other webmasters. Interact in forums and online communities.

* Provide quality information and free products or services that get 'good word of mouth' recommendations from your visitors. Content will always be king -- make sure it reigns supreme on your site.

* Pick the right domain name. If you can, choose a short catchy keyword for your domain, one people will remember and would naturally type into a search engine or browser to find what they're looking for on the web. For example: www.hotels.com.

* If you're having success with your site,(or/and especially if you're not) venture into off-line advertising and promotion. Use traditional promotional products, t-shirts, caps, bumper stickers, etc. to promote your URL. You can also try PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising to provide you with targeted traffic and sidestep the search engines. Well sort of!

* Try viral products like ebooks, reports and free software programs to get your links out into the marketplace. You can also try product or site testimonials which are another great source of targeted traffic.

* Be extremely careful of any out-going links from your site. Don't link to bad neighborhoods (link farms, banned sites, etc.) Google will penalize you for bad links so always check the PageRank of the sites you're linking to from your site. If you don't have the Google Bar, you can check any site's PageRank here: www.iwebtool.com.

* Onsite SEO factors does have an influence on rankings -- make sure your site is dressed to kill. Pay attention to keyword density, title descriptions, meta tags, alt tags and interior linking structure. If you can, optimize your site for all three major search engines: MSN, Yahoo and Google. But don't stop there, also submit your site to the countless other smaller search engines on the web. It's the old adage, don't put all your eggs into the ever-changing Google basket or you're probably turn your site and yourself into one desperate basket case. Other search engines listed here: http://www.isedn.org.

* Along those same lines, have a large spread of keyword phrases that you're targeting with the content on your site. Don't go after extremely competitive keywords which have countless major players with deep pockets buying links, left right and center. Instead, pick a whole range of keyword phrases that have less or little competition. All these keyword phrases will add up to a flood of traffic for your site. Phrases that for the most part won't be affected by a sudden drop in PageRank. One good site for finding these keywords is www.nichebot.com, it will give both the number of hits and the amount of competition for each keyword.

* There is one more strategy you must explore if you want to lessen the power and importance of your own site's PR. One strategy that will bring in tons of Google traffic even if your PR is ZERO. You must utilize the PageRank of other sites on the web. Use off-page optimization for your major keywords. Build countless anchor text links through keyword rich articles, content related blogs and products that benefit from the high PR of other sites on the web.

* Keyword rich articles are some of the best examples of this method, placing them on high PR sites will filter Google traffic through these articles onto your site. It will also warm up these visitors before they reach your site and they will be more receptive to any of your site's offering; never underestimate the power of the Pre-sell. Build enough of these links and a sudden drop in your own Google PR ranking won't drastically affect your bottom line or the amount of quality traffic you are receiving.

What's even more satisfying, if you build these links, partnerships, and off-site optimization -- your Google PageRank will probably go up. If it doesn't, who cares, for you will have Google-Proofed your site against any sudden drop in your site's PR rankings and broadened the reach of your site by using the high PR of other sites on the Web. In the process, you will have protected your site and yourself from the big bad Google PR wolf.

You don't have to conquer Google, you just have to outsmart it!

Things That Help Your Page Rank and Things That Hurt Your Page Rank

Things That Help Page Rank:

These factors will probably change over time, once someone figures how to "beat the system". Some these variables are more important than others:

  • Keywords in the title tag
  • Keywords in the description tag
  • Keywords in the keywords tag
  • Changing and increasing content
  • Keywords in your headlines
  • Keywords in your content
  • Keywords in the top 25% of the page
  • Keywords in the bottom 25% of the page
  • Using HTML emphasis on Keywords (Bold, Italics, Underline et cetera)
  • Incoming link popularity - if sites that point to you have a high PR it is a good thing
  • Keywords in the names of linked pages Cover Hypnosis Expert Kevin Hogan is better than Kevin Hogan and the actual site name has the lowest value (but better than nothing)
  • Keywords in alt tags and as names of images
  • Getting listings in Pay-Per-Click search engines like Google Adwords or in Overture
  • Listings in directories

Things That Hurt Page Rank:

  • Spamming by using the same word or phrase several times in your title, meta tags, or text. Buy you new shoes from our shoe site by visiting our shoe forum and choosing from our shoe gallery! The sentence might be readable, but it is spam.
  • Keyword density over 5% which may be considered keyword spamming.
  • Spamming by putting words or phrases into your meta tags or title that have nothing to do with the actual content people see on your web page.
  • Too many outbound links, even if they are to sites related to your topic. If you want to have hundreds of links, make a link page.
  • Using text the same color as the background. Years ago, I could not figure why I landed on a site that had nothing to do with my search.
  • Using tiny text (font size "-1" or smaller) as a way to cram keywords into a page
  • Linking out to link farms or free-for-all (FFA) link pages.
  • Links coming in from link farms or FFA link pages
  • Linking out to sites that have nothing to do with the focus or niche of your site (For a class Kevin Hogan gave in 2006 he linked from KevinHogan.com to everyone that attended his class, causing his PR to drop one point.)
  • Unknown. Since we don't know the actual algorithm used there may be things that we don't know that hurt your page rank. If you think something may hurt your site, don't do it.

Follow these basic rules and you will be on your way to getting your page ranked properly.

Article Marketing Secrets To Create Web Site Traffic

Article marketing is very powerful if you know how to do it correctly. Unfortunately most people write one or two articles and do not get a stampede of traffic right away and give up. So you have to have the proper mind set to make this work. Also you need to at least write a few hundred articles to really get the benefit. If you look at the top article directories you will see that there are a handful of people who make a living from writing articles alone. They have a few hundred up to a few thousand articles. When you write an article you are not sure which one will generate the most traffic. If you write a good quality article and it gets picked up by a very popular web site you could get hundreds of visitors in one day. However, you do not know which article is going to do this for you.

Now let us look at one of most overlooked parts of article marketing. It is very essential to track and test how many clicks your author bio is getting. In your article you give by writing on a topic that you are an expert in. You take when someone clicks on your bio and you get a visitor to your web site. It is very important to have your unique selling proposition as your bio. Now I suggest you track and test different bios. Initially I was getting very low click through rates on my bio, but then I changed it and found one that gets a much higher click through rate.

You can also get stuck spending too much time submitting to different article directories. There is software that does this for you, but I found that it works best to submit to the article directories by hand. Also stick to the major article directories. Submitting to the smaller article directories will increase link popularity, but they rarely drive much traffic to your web site.

Once you master this skill you will generate the highest quality leads for free. If you do this on a consistent basis you can drive tens of thousands of visitors to your web site.

10 Ways to Use Links to Make Money Online

Search engines get smarter every day. Google and the like have people working to make the search engines more efficient at delivering desired results. This poses a threat to some methods of online marketing, but also gives rise to new opportunities to market. By using a little HTML knowledge and taking a bit of time, you can ensure proper rankings in the search engines.

One way to boost your rank in search engines is the use of links to make money online by driving traffic to your business website. You should ensure that your links have the proper "link power" to get effective results in search engine ranking.

#1 - EXTERNAL LINKS

Put your link on other people's blog comments, forum posts, article directories, and affiliate pages. The search engines respect links from other sites more than internal links. Linking one page of your site to the other doesn't help all that much in search engine ranking.

#2 - LINK KEYWORDS

Backlinks are links that piggyback traffic from other sites by use of a link on a listed page. You can do this using the above methods. When you backlink, it is wise to make the very links the keywords for your website. The search engines note which words are linked and ranks your site higher for that keyword.

#3 - TITLE="KEYWORD"

This is the html of a link:

<a href="URL" title="keyword1,keyword2">keyword</a>

One thing that is easy to forget is that you can put your keyword into the HTML of the link so that the search engines pick up those keywords for your link.

#4 - ALT="KEYWORD"

If you are linking a banner, the HTML will look like this:

<a href="URL"><img src="IMAGE_URL" alt="keyword1,keyword2" border="0"></a>

You can pop the keyword in the alt tag in the image instead of the title tag in the link HTML. It arguably gives the same effect.

#5 - QUANTITY

If you can post a link in your signature of your forums or in the resource or bio box of an article, then by all means, do it. The link will show up on very page with your name on it giving you lots of "link votes" in the search engines.

#6 - RELEVANT CONTEXT

Make sure that the text around your link is relevant. This may not be just for target marketing purposes. It has been argued that search engines will pick up on the relevancy of your link, too.

#7 - RECIPROCITY

Links have more "link power" if the link is not returned. This means that you have to get other sites to put up links to yours while not putting their links to you. It's kind of like being a celebrity...everyone talks about you, but you hardly ever mention your fan's names.

#8 - POST LINKS ON RESPECTED SITES

If you are trying to get up on the Google rankings, backlink off the sites the Google likes. This will let you steal some of their "link power".

#9 - ROBOT.TXT

Search engine crawlers will crawl sites that allow them access to it. And one way they can tell if your site is accessible is to provide a simple text document called "robot.txt" in the directory folder where your main page is located. Here is a simple example of the content of a robot.txt:

User-agent: *

Disallow:

That will allow all webcrawlers to search all of your pages for content.

#10 - LESS LINKS ON YOUR PAGES

The less "link power" you give out, the more you can keep.

Website Traffic - Why Article Marketing Blows Away Pay-Per-Click Marketing

It's always great to compare traffic generation strategies because you can tell which strategy is giving you results and which isn't. Or maybe both strategies may be giving you results but you want to know which is more effective in generating qualified prospects.

Two of the most popular traffic generation methods online today are article marketing and pay-per-click marketing. This article won't talk about what both methods are (there are already tons of articles on that) but will compare the two to see which strategy you should invest your efforts in.

Personally, for me, article marketing blows pay-per-click marketing out of the water. Pay-per-click marketing consists of Google's Adwords and Yahoo's Search Marketing, so that's no small statement I'm making. Well, there's a reason why I say article marketing is more effective.

Let's say that you spend $10 a day on Adwords. That's $300 a month. Now take that $300 and spend it on 100 articles written by a freelancer. Those 100 articles will bring you traffic for a long time, whereas your Adwords traffic was a temporary thing. And prospects generated from articles are way more responsive!

You'll often people willing to spend crazy amounts for cost per click on Adwords, but you won't find that many 'insane' competitors in article marketing. Although the competition has grown massively in recent years, it is still nothing compared to pay-per-click marketing.

And that's why I say article marketing trumps over Adwords, Yahoo Search Marketing, or any other pay-per-click network. If you don't want to write, outsource your articles. You'll see some terrific results from this marketing strategy if you do it right.

Increase Website Traffic - Get a Website Traffic Increase With Article Marketing

Are you looking for a way to create lasting targeted traffic that will convert into sales? Do you want to build a funnel of traffic to your website, blog, or affiliate links? There is one great way to increase website traffic that is easy and free. You can get a website traffic increase with article marketing by following the steps below.

Start with step one, which is to pick your niche. This can be anything you want, but the best choices are always things that you know something about and have a passion for. After you choose your niche you need to figure out what you are going to write about. You should also set a goal for how many articles you are going to write each week.

The second step is to start writing. You should write and submit one article at a time. It is best to start with 2 or 3 of the top article directories (Ezine Articles, Search Warp, and Go Articles), then after you have wrote and submitted a few articles you can take one and submit it all over the web to every single free article directory you can find.

The last step is to write some more. You will never get the increase in website traffic that you are after if you just write a few articles. You need to be submitting new articles on a regular basis. Articles have a life cycle that starts with a good amount of views and traffic for you right off the bat, then they fall in the directories and your traffic will come slower, but from time to time you will get website traffic increases from newsletters and other sites using your articles.

The article writing and marketing game is not a hard one to play. You will see a real website traffic increase in about a month or two of writing and you will see an increase in website traffic right off the bat when you submit your articles. The best part is articles never go anywhere and the longer they are out there the better chance they will spread across the web and increase your website traffic even more.

Article Marketing And Its Benefits

The internet stores a massive amount of information and much of that is in text. To find quality content to return for search queries the search engines look for sites with test content and the more the better.

If you have ever wondered why your website is not receiving any traffic, you are probably looking for a way to increase it. Most webmasters on the internet are because they realize that traffic is what will make their site a success.

You should consider taking a two pronged approach to building links. The first method for building links is through submissions of your site to quality webs directories. Every link you get to your site is not only a vote in popularity, but also a doorway for traffic. Every quality link you can get through directory submissions will bring more relevance to your site.

How you can use article marketing.

The first way you can use article marketing is by going to article directories. If you can't write your own unique content (which is preferred) for your site, you can use the content from article directories to place on your site for content as long as you retain the authors resource box. You need the content there for the search engines to spider when they visit through all the linking pathways you created when submitting your site to quality web directories.

As we covered the internet contains a massive amount of information and people search for it every day. The more links you have pointing to your site and the more content you have on it relevant to your sites niche, the better you will rank for search engine queries.

Another way to use article marketing is by writing your own unique articles on topics related to your websites niche and submit them for publication to the best article directories. These articles will create some links to your website to increase its popularity and with each link comes another doorway for traffic to find you.

When you write and publish these articles, you are also letting the public know you have expertise and knowledge on the subject. To get the reader's attention, give them a quality, well written article filled with information.

Build links through quality directory submissions to increase your sites popularity and create doorways to traffic and search engines. Then use article marketing to provide quality on site content for the search engines to spider when they arrive. The more quality web directories you submit your site to, the more articles content you provide on your site and the more articles you submit for publication on article directories, the more search engines will love your site.

These are some of the key elements to creating traffic and building a successful website. You can have the best website on the internet, but without proper promotion your visitors will never find you. If they do not find you, they cannot use the services that you provide.

Now it is time to get started.

Gain an online presence for your Website by getting listed on The Authority Website Directory. Then make sure to read our latest article Explaining the Hybrid Vehicle.

Article Marketing Titles - Targeting Your Audience in Your Article Title

The next thing you want to think about is, what do people want to know about the topic. So, sticking to our big blue new toy example, what are some things that people want to know about it?

Notice that I ask, what are some things that people want to know about it, not what are some things you want people to know about it. That is a crucial distinguishment.

It is about the people reading the article, not about you. Give them what they want to read, not what you want them to read. Answer their questions, and then they will see you as an expert, and become likely to want to get more information from you.

So what are some things people might want to know about the big blue new toy?

How about:

How fast is it?

How big is it?

How much is it?

How many are available?

Where can I find one?

How does it work?

Now there are certainly many more, but for the sake of space and repetitiveness, I will use those as examples.

So what are some titles I can create, using these questions:

Take a look:

Big Blue New Toy - How fast is the Big Blue New Toy?

Big Blue New Toy - How big is the Big Blue New Toy?

Big Blue New Toy - How much is the Big Blue New Toy?

Big Blue New Toy - How many of the Big Blue New Toy are available?

Big Blue New Toy - Where can I find the Big Blue New Toy?

Big Blue New Toy - How does the work Big Blue New Toy?

So you can see that just using the basic questions people might ask and the keyword phrase itself, I have created a number of article titles that are going to rank in the search engines quite highly.

Brutally Effective Article Marketing Secrets That That Will Rapidly Explode Your Business

Knowing how to utilize your article marketing efforts is a very important strategy for your business. In this article I would like to go over the methods that you can use to maximize your efforts from article marketing.

It is very important to understand how you generate traffic to your website. First of all there are only about 5 directories which generate massive traffic to your website. The rest are mainly useful for backlinks to increase your search engine rankings.

There are basically two types of traffic that you will get. You will get the immediate traffic when people search on your website and also the traffic from search engines.

Now this is very important as you need to maintain the balance between the two. For the long term search engine traffic you need to find high traffic keywords with very little competition. Include this in your title and basically submit to the top directories. These have very good page rank and will ensure that you get good rankings in the search engine. However, since these directories are updated with fresh new content daily it is very important to continually submit articles as you will find that some of your older articles may start losing their rankings.

If you combine the two traffic sources from article directories then you will always receive a healthy flow of quality traffic to your website. You may want to develop different squeeze pages linking to separate autoresponder accounts so that you can track and test your results.

Internet Marketing Article Report - Why I Market Exclusively With Articles

There are many different ways to do internet marketing. Article marketing is one of my favourite methods of doing internet marketing as this is one of the easiest methods that even a beginner can succeed with.

Let us look at the most common ways that people use to market their internet business. Ppc advertising is very quick to setup and drive targeted traffic quickly to your web site. The big disadvantage with this method of internet marketing is that you need to be willing to spend thousands of dollars to test and track which keywords actually convert. This can be very daunting for a beginner.

Ezine advertising also brings in results quickly. However the disadvantage is that often you need to book your adverts weeks or months in advance. You also need to be very good at copywriting so that your emails actually get read and convert to customers. You also need to track and test everything so that you only continue advertising in related ezines that are actually profitable.

Search engine optimization is another method that can be used that is effective. However the disadvantage here is that for a new web site it can take up to a year to get good search engine rankings and with the frequent changes in the search engine algorithms your business can be wiped out if you lose your rankings.

Let us look at my favourite method of internet marketing. With article marketing the disadvantage is that you need to spend a lot of time to write the articles. However, once you have written and submitted your articles to the major article directories they are viral in nature. They get picked up by other webmasters that publish them on their web sites. I would much rather have different sources of traffic than just rely on one source alone which can be very risky. You also get traffic from search engines as they spider your articles in the search engine directories.

It is probably the most reliable method of generating quality traffic to a web site. This method of marketing has been so effective for me that I have stopped ppc and ezine advertising long ago.

SEO - Quick Tips for Instant Results

People ask me on a daily basis how to do a couple of quick fixes which will make their site appear higher in the search results. The type of people that ask me are usually people who have been doing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) themselves but have not had any great success. This article is for people just starting to do SEO or for people who have been doing it for a long time. The tips are easy to implement and anyone who knows a bit about HTML and SEO will be able make the changes easily.

This article will out line a number of Quick Fixes which will make your site move up the search results almost immediately.

1) Use H1, H2, H3 tags in your content with your keywords appearing in them.
2) Use Alt Tags in your website; make sure that they include your keywords too.
3) Create fresh content as frequently as possible.
4) Dont let your keyword density exceed 15%.
5) Make sure you dont have a slow loading site.
6) No duplicate content, always keep your text original.
7) Make sure your navigation is text based and your site is easy to navigate
8) Have many RELEVANT backlinks to your website.
9) Backlinks should include anchor text that is varied.
10) Dont link to banned sites or bad neighbourhoods
11) Dont use too much script, make sure your site is content rich.
12) Dont ever use Frames or Flash.

These tips are suggested for websites that are established already and have some history. New sites should be optimised as they are build and as they are new it will take a while for the search engines to show them in their results. Therefore, any changes made will not have any effect on a new site with no history or backlinks.

It requires great patience to do SEO effectively; the most important factor in SEO is building a good number of backlinks to your site. The backlinks should be from many different sources and be related to your industry in some why. Also, use your keywords in your anchor text this will make a huge difference.

Google Sitemaps - Questions Answered by Vanessa Fox

With Google’s recent joint venture to collaborate with Yahoo and MSN to create a Sitemap submission protocol standard, there has been a lot of buzz generating lately for Google Sitemaps in the SEO world. This has caused many webmasters and business owners to regain focus on the true implications and question the validity of the Google Sitemaps program. Because of all the noise, Rand Fishkin, SEO expert from SEOmoz.org interviews and questions Vanessa Fox of Google to help clear some of the smoke.

Some questions that are discussed in this video are: Does a duplicate content filter induce duplicate content penalties? What about format preference? Is an XML sitemap superior or can a simple text file suffice? What is OAI-PMH?

Given some recent dialog on sitemaps versus other SEO methods, Vanessa reiterates the intent of a sitemap: it should be merely one part of the strategy.

Also in the interview, Vanessa clarifies the difference between Google Toolbar's Page Rank and Google Webmaster Tools. Vanessa states, "Webmaster Tools- is a little more accurate and a little more up-to-date. The Toolbar page ranking does not get updated quite as often, of course it's only one factor. I feel like people get really hung-up on the Toolbar Page Rank. People probably spend a little more energy on it than they need to."

I think this interview was a good decision for Google and the rest of the SEO community. I agree with Vanessa and believe that submitting a Google Sitemap for your website is highly recommended. Is it the cure all? No, but is it an important piece to the SEO puzzle? Yes, most definitely. I’ve seen the positive results with my own eyes. I submit Sitemaps for each one of client and have noticed their content getting indexed in days, rather than months. Our business will continue to setup and submit Google Sitemaps for our clients, now following the new Sitemaps.org XML protocol standard.

Article Marketing-Importance of Specific Web Page Linking

Article marketing is one of the easiest ways to create targeted traffic to your web site, and of course one of the ways to do this is through the process of creating backlinks from your article to your web site.

Once you have written your article (and by the way, make sure that you have thoroughly spell checked your article and made sure that it is not ungrammatical ask a member of your family or a friend to read it over for you), then make sure that there is some way for your reader to access your website for more information.

The easiest way to allow the reader to access your web site directly from your article is to include a backlink (or 2 or 3) to your web site or web pages therein. You can either create a bio; this will generally be permitted by the article directories in the form of the authors resource box; and in the bio include a backlink to your main page. This is a box which is added to your article and in which you can say a bit about yourself and provide a link to any page in your website that you want.

Another thing I like to do, when the article directory permits it, is to include specific web pages in my text anchor backlinks, rather than my index or main page.

This is what is so good about article marketing. You can advertise a specific page within your website. If readers like the article and wants to copy it to their own website, they may do so as long as they include your resource box. What this does is to provide you with a link to your web page back from theirs, without you having to provide a reciprocal link.

Ten Tried And Tested Viral Marketing Campaigns

Believe it or not, viral marketing did not originate from the web. Named after microscopic organisms that reproduce at a very fast rate, viral marketing traces its beginnings from offline marketing. More popularly called as word-of-mouth advertising, this method has been one of the most powerful yet cost-efficient ways of promoting a business.

Viral marketing involves the exponential spread of a business message. After an initial distribution, the business message can potentially reach many people in a short span of time.

As an example, if you deliver your business message to ten people and give them enough incentive to pass it on to ten more people in their respective network, you'll immediately have garnered the attention of a thousand potential customers. But it doesn't stop there, because the new tiers could spread the word to even more individuals, and this same cycle would go on and on while you concentrate on other matters of your business.

Studies show on the average that a person has 12 people in his network. This statistic can be deceiving. Ten persons can have 2 people in their respective network, while one person can have 140 people in his. We would then arrive at the same median.

Here are some of the things that Internet marketers use to encourage people to distribute the business message. Bear in mind, please, that these are all offered for free. Free is still the most powerful word in marketing, after all.

1. E-BOOKS. An e-book is the most popular method of delivering the business message. An informative one would cater to the needs of many people, which is already enough incentive for its self-propagation. You strategically place links within the pages o the e-book to promote your business or your affiliate products.

2. SPECIAL REPORTS. Special reports are just like e-books, only shorter. Special reports have also taken an aura of reverence in recent years as they are excellent vehicles for communicating a novel idea.

3. SOFTWARE. Perhaps you have a program or a script which you would want to share. This software can be designed to provide for a link to your site every time its features are used.

4. SERVICE. You could provide for a hosting service or an e-mail accounts to entice visitors to spread your business message.

5. MEMBERSHIP. You could also establish a membership site and give away access to the same. The membership site could contain a lot of free or discounted goods to its members.

6. NEWSLETTER. A newsletter or an eZine is also a popular way to kick start the exponential distribution of the business message. By constantly providing your subscriber base with informative pieces on a variety of topics, they would feel inclined to tell their friends about your business.

7. DISCOUNTS. Offer discounts to the products you're offering, and you would encourage people to spread the word about the bargain you are providing.

8. TRIAL VERSION OF YOUR PRODUCTS. If you're trying to sell a software program, you could also try offering such for a trial period, which is usually 30 days. This would allow people to try your product before they would decide to buy it. Even if they're too thrifty to spend on the full version of your product, they would still inform others of your business at some point.

9. ARTICLE MARKETING. Submit an informative article with a resource box containing a link of your sales page to the many article directories on the net. Encourage your readers to republish your article provided that they keep the resource box.

10. OTHER PRODUCTS like screensavers, themes, fonts, images and the likes.

Now that you know what value propositions to offer, the remaining consideration is how to distribute them.

E-mail is the primary mode of online transference. Mailing lists contain loads of e-mail addresses of people with similar interests. If you could broadcast your business message in this channel, the rewards would be tremendous, as someone is bound to take notice. Additionally, you only have to send it once, and you'll touch base with every single person in that group.

Discussion boards or online forums also host a gathering of people who share the same passion. These online communities hold discussions on various matters everyday, often, many times within 24 hours at that. There are forums for the many niches out there. Target one that is related to your market. But make it a point to first establish your presence as a worthy part of the community. Remember, it is a community, and you have to win their trust first before you could sway them to your side. Begin by answering threads which post a question. Be helpful. In this way, you could subtly manipulate them to check out your business message.

Online chat rooms can also be a fertile source of hosts that would persistently distribute your marketing offers. Join a channel that pertains to your business. Spend some time building up personal connections, and then gradually introduce your business message. People have more confidence with someone they have actually talked to, albeit, through online means.

That makes it a bit tougher for marketers to give their articles the exposure they need. Thus, they resort to energizing their strategies to get ahead of the pack and take the lead.

What makes a title captivating? It must be able to communicate the readers' benefits; it must be short, direct to the point, intriguing, and keyword-rich.
